Delivered a comprehensive UX design for Fagmøbler's customer account management platform through TRY Dig AS, encompassing order tracking, delivery management, and communication preferences while implementing Baymard Institute's e-commerce best practices.

Overview

As a UX designer, I worked on designing a new account management platform for Fagmøbler, Norway's leading furniture retailer. The project focused on creating an intuitive my account space where customers could manage orders, track deliveries, and control their communication preferences, including SMS notifications, email updates, and newsletter subscriptions.

Methodology

The UX design was developed based on extensive research and best practices from Baymard Institute, a leading e-commerce UX research organization. Their comprehensive studies on account management, navigation patterns, and user preferences helped inform key design decisions throughout the project.

Design process

Initial ideation and wireframing were conducted in FigJam, allowing for rapid iteration and customer feedback. This collaborative approach enabled early validation of concepts and user flows. Following customer approval, the design process moved to Figma where detailed UX documentation was integrated alongside the design work.

My account features

The my account solution includes six key features:

  • My orders: View all orders, track active orders and download receipts
  • Favorites Save and organize favorite products
  • My profile: Update personal information and manage security settings
  • Privacy and notifications: Control marketing preferences and communication settings
  • Payment methods Store and manage payment cards
  • Customer service Quick access to the help center that provdes FAQ and contact information

Implementation and result

Design specifications and UX patterns were thoroughly documented through a comprehensive UX design with detailed annotations and comments. This approach ensured design consistency and best practices were maintained during the transition from UX to UI design phase, while still allowing flexibility for visual design decisions. The thorough documentation serves as a clear guide for implementation, streamlines collaboration, and provides a solid foundation for future updates and maintenance. Key interactions, user flows, and design rationales were clearly outlined to facilitate seamless handover between design phases.
